Jared Detter is a Clinical Psychologist who has provided counseling to a broad array of individuals since 2005. He began his career in the United States Air Force and served as a psychologist on Active Duty for four years. After separating from the Air Force, he moved to the San Antonio Police Department and was a psychologist in the Psychological Services office for 3.5 years. His next step was as a consulting psychologist working for a small firm in the Washington, DC area, helping leaders and teams become more effective inside of organizations. After nearly four years of this work, he moved back into clinical work, again supporting Active Duty members as a contract psychologist on an Air Force Base.
His broad experience with adults has led to extensive work with people suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, stress, trauma, family of origin issues, and spirituality. He takes a very collaborative and educational approach and works toward empowering clients to live their lives in a more purposeful way and to learn how to shape their future proactively. His favorite clients are those who come in willing to learn and work hard, understanding that true therapeutic change doesn’t come from changing your environment; it comes from changing yourself.
Dr. Detter is also the founder of Profectus Performance Consulting, where he works with leaders at all levels and their teams to enhance leadership capabilities, particularly the importance of character in leadership, develop cohesive teams, and mitigate barriers to workplace potential. He is skilled at addressing group issues and process challenges that stand in the way of effectiveness.
Dr. Detter holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Malone University. He also received his MBA from the University of Arizona, with dual concentrations in Management and Organizations and Entrepreneurship. Jared is licensed by the Ohio State Board of Psychology to practice clinical psychology. He is also on the Editorial Review Board of the Consulting Psychology Journal and is a trained hostage negotiator.
